SPRING HAS SPRUNG

No Fort Friday tomorrow because we are going to Atlanta to spend the night and go to the children's museum. Matt has been up there all week and we have missed him! Last weekend we took some pictures with animals. The kids loved the animals!

This is my favorite! This was taken right before Sophie fell forward squishing the chicks. Then Spencer didn't realize he was squishing one with his hand... the poor chicks.

SO.. right now I have taken 887 pictures in the month of March and it is only March 22....yea I love to take pictures of my children!

FORT FRIDAY

I saw a blog where a mom builds a new fort for her kids every Friday. I thought WHAT FUN and I knew my boys would love it! So Happy Fort Friday!!

MARCH is here! I love this time of year! It really gives me spring fever...of course we have had spring like temps around here, so winter hasn't been that bad.

Here is a QUICK update on the kiddos...

Sophie is now 6 months old!! She weighed 14 pounds and 2 ounces at her 6 month check up and is 25 inches long. She is a petite little girl! :) She is so funny! She loves her brothers and watches everything they do! She is rolling everywhere and will be scooting before we know it. A few weeks ago, I would have described her as quiet. Well that is not the case the past few days! She is squealing all the time and grunts to get your attention! It is hilarious! When I am nursing in the mornings, she knows Matt is getting ready for work in our room. She will stop eating look at our door and grunt, trying to get him to peak his head out. We are practicing sitting up and I am hoping she will become more stable before Easter so we can get cute pictures of the 3 of them. :) She discovered her tongue last week and is now sticking it out all the time. It's so adorable! When the boys were this age, they never watched tv but occasionally a Baby Einstein. Well since the boys LOVE to watch Disney Junior and we watch it some in the morning, Sophie loves it! Whenever Mickey Mouse Clubhouse comes on, she stops and looks at the tv. Oh my! Oh well! It isn't going to kill her! Last week I put her in the boys' play car. She LOVED it!!

We went on a walk the first day and Shep wanted to push her. What a great big brother!

All she wants to do now is be in the car and chase Shep and Spence around. Of course the boys just eat it up!

The main thing that has changed with the boys is their speech. It has really taken off the past 3 weeks! They are saying 7-8 word sentences. Shepherd is talking NONSTOP! He can tell you anything and everything! I love it! He keeps everyone is line! Spencer can say just as much, but just does what he wants instead of talking about it. I love the different personalities.

Last Friday we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday. We read Green Eggs and Ham before breakfast and then ate green eggs. After I read the book I asked the boys if they wanted to try some green eggs. Spencer looked at me and said, "No Mama. Yellow eggs." I made them anyway and he gobbled them down!

For snack time we made Dr Seuss hats after reading the Cat in the Hat. They were yummy!

Day to Day

Shepherd and Spencer love to learn. Every morning we spend time reading and learning. The boys have picked up very quickly on their letters and numbers. I use a lot of different sources in my planning for their activities. I love pinterest and have recently discovered the ABC Jesus Loves Me website. This summer I hope to spend more time organizing a curriculum to start in the fall for them with 3 year old preschool.

We found these rocks outside and painted them to study the letter "R r".

We have been practicing identifying our lower case letters. b, d, p, and q are tricky!! Here we took paint pens and they would place the paint on the letter I called out.

This was the first time doing an activity like this and they did a great job! Spencer sometimes got carried away and did more than one letter at a time, but that's ok!!

Other news...

Happy Valentine's Day from our Love Bug!

The boys are talking nonstop these days. I may have to start a funny quote section on each blog update. Shep is really cracking us up with his talking. Last week I told him to drink his milk and his reply was, "No Mommy, it's nasty!"

Oh, how our days are filled with so much fun!

Winter??

We have all been sick at our house over the past 3 weeks. It has come and gone through all of us. I am tired of all the coughing and snotty noses and just feeling crummy... The bright light through all of this has been the weather. I am not one to stay inside and when I do for more than a couple of days, I get cabin fever bad! We have been so lucky to have beautiful days in the 60s and even low 70s. Through the coughing...we always make it outside at least for a little while. That has gotten us through the tough days. Now that we are all on the mend, the weather has turned cold... go figure! We may just have to visit the Chick-fil-A playground this weekend!

5 Months Old

Our Sweet Sophie

WOW! Where have these 5 months have gone? I know I say that everytime I blog about one of the kids getting older, but it truly is the case! I guess I am so busy that one day turns into another and another and then BAM 5 months! 2 kids vs. 3 kids?? It was hard at first but is getting so much easier! Sophie is a lot happier now and the boys are understanding everything that I say and can really help out!

Sophie is such a sweet baby! Her smiles are just gorgeous. When she smiles, she tilts her head and looks shyly away.

As soon as you put her on her back she rolls over to her belly. She loves rolling and playing on her mat.

She found her feet last week! Now she plays with them all the time.

For her entertainment, she loves watching for Shepherd and Spencer. She follows them around the room with her eyes. Before we know it, she will be crawling after them. I know they are going to keep her laughing! I love her little laugh. She is very ticklish and just giggles. She loves to play pick-a-boo and cracks up with I talk into her neck.

She started eating some cereal. She is a very messy eater! She wasn't a huge fan of it at first. She is eating it better this week with a little bit of apples in it.

Guess that makes sense to him because Shepherd is his Bubba.
